Description of the centre and the health care region:
The distance between the CMA of Dô and the capital Ouagadougou is 350 km. The centre was opened in 2006. The healthcare zone of Dô is one of the seven healthcare zones of The Hauts- Bassins region.
The total surface is 586.54 km2, of which 265.70 km2 is a rural area, 320.84 km2 is an urban area with a total population of 463.070 inhabitants.
In this healthcare zone there are 22 ‘Centre de Santé et de Promotion Sociale (CSPS)’ from which patients can be referred, if necessary, to the CMA of Dô. Within the same healthcare zone there are a further more 60 private healthcare centers. The hospital has 58 beds in several pavilions spread over walled and well kept premises. Four services are available: surgery, general medicine, pediatrics and maternity/obstetrics. They also have a lab, a pharmacy and a basic ophthalmology unit.
Management of the Centre:
The hospital depends on Burkina’s Ministery of Public Health. Dr. Seydou Ganama is the medical director.
Description of the activities:
The collaboration between MWV and the CMA of Dô started in 2011. Most missions are specialised in general surgery, gynecology and obstetrics. The only mission scheduled for 2014 had to be cancelled because of the political instability in the country. As from 2015, 3 new missions are planned.
